Some of the odd places to read books that were discovered while researching this post involve multi-tasking. For instance, one woman said that the oddest place she has ever read a book was while driving a tractor! Her husband and son were gathering the harvest, and she was driving along in the fields while reading a book.
To a city dweller, this might sound like a recipe for disaster. For those who live in the country and are used to spending long hours putt putting along during harvest season, it might sound like a great way to pass the time!

When a woman goes to a gynecology office for a medical exam, she often has to wait a long time for her turn. Even after a nurse ushers a patient to an exam room, there is still usually a gap of time from that moment, until the doctor enters the room. Sometimes, it can be 15 minutes or more.

The woman who stated that she read during childbirth said it took her mind off the pain. And, as for the final reading location on the list, the bailiff in the courtroom reportedly told the person to stop reading because it was a dishonor to the court. The avid reader was not participating in proceedings. It makes sense that jurors are not allowed to read. However, even spectators are apparently supposed to give their full attention in a courtroom.
